Artist's Profile

Krishnendu Chaki |
|
I draw with the mind of a child or a rural artisan. Experiencing joy in life is paramount. The ecstasy that one can feel while creating a work of art is the raison d’etre of my work.
The simplicity of folk art and its rhythm attracts and inspires me. Its influence is very clear in my work. The rhythm and spontaneity of design and calligraphy are the hallmarks of artwork.
The pictures I have created for this exhibition deals with folktales and legends. Not the narratives, but the mystery of its world, the hold it has on our imagination throughout time are the qualities I have tried to capture in my pictures.
Born on the 26 October, 1962, Krishnendu Chaki was educated at the Government College of Art and Crafts, Kolkata. He is an independent artist who lives and works in Kolkata. KrishnenduChaki worked with the ABP Group as the art Director.
