Sanat Kar
Sanat Kar-Monart Gallerie - Indian Artists Gallery Sanat Kar (b. 1935)

A majority of Sanat Kar's works have an unreal and strange dream-like appearance, which is actually frightening at times. The convoluted figures leave an uncomfortable feeling behind them. As a result all his paintings border on the edge of reality without ever actually falling within its realms, symbolizing the inexplicable aspects of life to which there are no logical answers. A large number of the creatures are amphibious, showing the all-pervasive presence of water on our lives and the fear that it can generate. Birth and death, the beginning and the end of the cycle of life hold endless fascination for the artist, as does the grotesque and the macabre.
